Of Wisdom’s Bough is 100% pure Tualang honey harvested from one of the oldest trees we work with in the Malaysian rainforest. Massive and enduring, this towering tree is home to more than 50 mature Apis dorsata hives.

Year after year, the bees return to this tree and its surrounding canopy, where wild blooms, herbs, shoots, saps, and forest botanicals help shape the honey’s deep color, layered aroma, and unmistakable Tualang character.

Early Bloom

Freshly harvested between February and early April, Early Bloom is the first harvest window of the season. These early jars are generally more delicate, floral, and subtle than later bloom harvests.

Tasting Notes:
Gentle floral aroma with hints of mint and sour fruits. A series of complex flavors follows, including toasted sugar and nutmeg. The distinctive Tualang profile carries rich sweetness across the palate and develops into a lingering, creamy finish.

Dark copper to reddish brown.

Mid Bloom

Freshly harvested between May and July, Mid Bloom is often the most layered part of the season. These jars may show greater intensity, deeper aroma, and a broader expression of the rainforest canopy.

The Story of Legendary Tualang Honey

Tualang honey has long been treasured in Malaysia for its extraordinary harvest setting. Apis dorsata, the Giant Asian Honey Bee, builds open-branch hives high in towering rainforest trees, where access requires skilled honey hunters, careful timing, and deep respect for the forest.

Of Wisdom’s Bough comes from one of the oldest trees we harvest, a monumental canopy tree that continues to host more than 50 mature hives. Its height, scale, and recurring hive activity make this harvest one of the most striking expressions of wild Tualang honey in the Apis Lux collection.
